How NFL Playoff Bracket Pools Work
The NFL Playoff Format
The NFL Playoffs feature 14 teams — 7 from the AFC and 7 from the NFC — playing through Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championships, and the Super Bowl. Unlike March Madness, the NFL reseeds after every round: the highest remaining seed always plays the lowest, making matchups unpredictable and bracket pools uniquely challenging.
What Is an NFL Playoff Bracket Pool?
Everyone fills out their NFL playoff bracket before Wild Card Weekend, picking winners for every round through the Super Bowl. Points are earned for each correct pick, with the commissioner setting custom values per round.
Why Reseeding Makes It Interesting
Because the NFL reseeds after each round, a single Wild Card upset can completely reshape the bracket. You're not just picking winners — you're predicting which teams survive a constantly reshuffling bracket.
